trees, trees, trees// & water

when you live on a barrier island, you can’t help but take a picture with water in it.
i’m trying really hard to look beyond the ocean’s waves. here’s one pic that I took during my fairly crappy, rain-soaked, windshield-chipping, visitor-cancelled, nauseating weekend.
at least the overcast skies made for this great reflection.
love,

why, hello there tumultuous ocean!

this morning I woke up early. not exceptionally early, but early enough to get to the beach to see the ridiculous high surf before it comes to an end.
I love most of the excitement that comes with an aggressive storm event here:
high & out of control waves
plumes of water that fly off [...]

i may be sick, but not of sunsets.

I’m not feeling too hot tonight, but still have to share this awesome sight from yesterday afternoon.

i love me this jetty

Today, I received a phone call from an old friend.
He spotted my beat-up, dilapidated, aesthetically deficient car, complete with countless bumper stickers (from corn palaces to ice cream company’s slightly suggestive slogans to locations exhibiting my car’s various feats of physical endeavor and accomplishment during it 106k+ mile tour de force).
It was in [...]

under the pier

There’s something exciting about being under a fishing pier. It takes me back to those post-school afternoons of eating sliced apples with peanut butter at my neighbor’s house, while watching back-to-back episodes of Baywatch.

last night into this morning i broke out p’shop and illustrtr and knocked out a quick logo for a new twttr/fbook avatar. exhibit: myeah.

yes. chase the dream.

most mornings, I need encouragement. some days, as soon as my feet hit the floor I find myself droppin’ phillipians 4:13.
i know that i’ve always had big dreams of using my design skills and faith to change the world.
but maybe,
right now,
the world I’m supposed to change is the one of the person living [...]

wintry boardwalk afternoon

what’s a world without color?
fact: very beautiful.
although I’ve never dreamed in grayscale, sometimes it’s magical to dissect and analyze the parts of a whole.
whether it be a part of our life, a part of our soul, or a part of our relationships. taking time out to examine the pieces of the skeleton that provides the [...]

the sun goes down?

sunsets brings an end.
..an end to a day.
..an end to a story.
some of those stories carry through the dark of night, lying dormant, waiting to emerge and be continued on the other side of temporal obscurity.
it’s those stories that keep you awake throughout the night, keep you hoping for the next sunrise, that [...]

when the moon hits your eye…

the moon has been amazing the last couple of nights. it’s huge when you’re looking at it from the street, but when you cross the dunes, it shrinks, dwarfed by the vast horizon.
